About the Campaign

The Bill Monroe Stamp Campaign is a grassroots movement of fans and friends of Bill Monroe. Our goal is to convince the US Postal Service to issue a stamp commemorating Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, when he becomes eligible in 2006.

The primary goal of the campaign is to generate as many letters, cards, and petitions as possible to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee in support of a Bill Monroe stamp. This website is intended to publicize the campaign and to provide resources for others to publicize it.

Jim Peva started the campaign. He is a longtime supporter of bluegrass music, and a friend of Bill Monroe's. A regular at Bean Blossom since the 60s, he and his family were awarded a lifetime pass by Bill himself for their support. He can be reached by email at JRPv@aol.com.

Stewart Evans is the webmaster of the Blue Grass Boys tribute site, and provides technical support for the stamp campaign. He can be reached by email at stewart@billmonroestamp.org.
